Michael Lynn – The banks close in and a Panama connection?

Posted by Maman Poulet on 25 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: Michael Lynn

The Financial Regulator and others might want to know how Simon Carswell from the Irish Times is finding out today (subs. required) about payments in the personal account of one of Michael Lynn’s right hand men. Anthony Cantwell seems to be getting paid from Panama. Ah yes Panama that place yer man in the canoe and his wife ‘disappeared‘ to.

Bet there’ll be a lot of googling for photos of Michael on Panamanian property sites in the next few days. This is what he looks like in case you need reminding!! There are a few other personal bank accounts I’d think that Simon, the revenue and the Garda Fraud Investigation unit are probably having a close look at as Michael owes a lot of favours to a lot of people.

AIB features heavily in Michael Lynn related news over the weekend. Michael should be proud of himself for the amount of legal firsts he is setting. The Sunday Business Post tell us that the bank have got a court ruling permitting them to seize assets across Europe.

The bank obtained the ruling last week after an exparte application to the High Court. The ruling was obtained under a sub-clause of the Treaty of Rome and will enable the bank to enforce judgments across member states of the European Union.

However getting the full list (no sub. needed) of all the houses that Michael owns and especially the many (potentially) outside the EU might be just a bit difficult. And of course if they are outside the EU well that ruling that AIB are so chuffed about has no impact at all! Simon seems to be the one to be keeping an eye on for the latest news.

Would you look though at how long it took them to get details on houses in Brazil and work out why it might be something worth investigating…tut!

Of course we’re still awaiting auctioneers details of the property that the banks and Brid Murphy are fighting over which is up for auction on March 11th.

Bitches get stuff done

Posted by Maman Poulet on 25 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: Newstalk, US Election 2008

The Writers Strike is over, Saturday Night Live returned…. and Bitches get stuff done… (unless you’re Brenda Power from Newstalk and think that shouting down the phone at a Civil Servant live on air is going to change anything….miaow…)

I have to wonder if the free enough ride that Obama has gotten in the past few months could be linked to the writers strike in any way?? Bit late now for Hilary that they are all back, and she has Bill to blame also for her woes.

What does B.T Stand for?

So the Drumcondra Mafia account whoops I mean the St. Lukes expenditure trust account recently renamed Building Trust – but previously called the BT account. Bertie’s T??????

It’s intriguing me something rotten now – we know it stood for something else…but what??

Your efforts in the comments….

EuroSong 2008 – The Results

Posted by Maman Poulet on 23 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: Blogging, Eurosong

So are we all ready? Dinner was lovely thanks – fish and chips ala Marks and Spencers.

It seems Ireland still has to suffer Ryan Tubridy tonight for her sins.

21.42
Ad break following the weather which was strangely cut short. Will Marija do a costume change?? How many times will Ray Darcey say ‘well done, well done, well done…’?

21.45 And we’re back – recap of acts is mercifully short…

So we won’t be represented by

– Marc Roberts – back to Crossmolina…

– Maya can take of her dress…

– Liam is back to school in Crossmolina

– Donal is not going to Serbia either…

Leona or Dustin it is then!!

The winner is …. Dustin!!!

A fowl decision according to Dana, Louis is still being nice, Marija was right about the Duck being the one that wins it…

and here’s the winner…

Eurosong 2008

Posted by Maman Poulet on 23 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: Blogging, Eurosong, Queer

I could live blog this… but I have a life… or do I? I have a cold, cough, whatever – I’m Sick. Bored to tears. Switch over from Rugby (well done Ireland) to see a lesbian, not just any lesbian but the one who won the Eurovision last year. Ah yeah whatever happened to her? Well Marija’s been flown over by RTE to Limerick of all places to take part in the panel for Eurosong 2008. God love her…

Alongside her is Louis Walsh who @lexia is sure has been nobbled by the Lord Grecian 2000. Also there is Dana of whom many a drag queen has murdered Alll Kinds of Everything.

First song is also queerly related and then we move onto Dustin. The Euro Duck. Lots of booing and laughing and banter.

How stuck were the judges in getting the songs this year – song 3 from Maya from Slovenia is horrific…Marija has a great sense of humour! Dana welcomes the singer to Ireland – eh what’s that got to do with it?

19.29 NTL Digibox pops up a reminder that Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Show is about to start. Do I stay or do I go now?

19.31 I press cancel and decide I can stick with this for another 30 minutes surely?? This time next week we’ll be at the blog awards…

We’re rattling along here now with song 4 – Leona Daly with great eye shadow looks lie one of those guest bands that you’d see on Tubridy – and we get to see rather too much of the roof of her mouth…hmmmm. And now her legs… Now for the judges – Marija – she thinks the short dress is the only thing to comment about it. Dana didn’t like the heels…’and put an inch on the dress’. Marija was distracted for different reasons Dana and needs a drink to calm down but maybe Dana didn’t get that!.

Feel this love in my heart pines Liam from Ballina in song 5…strangely reminiscent of Michael Lynn for some reason. Dana thinks he is too young, Louis does his usual ‘yer great’…Marija thinks the song is not good but the singer is great – he has a great smile! Ah that’ll get him far then. Further than Serbia hopefully for him.

Another Mayo man now for song 6 – Marc Roberts performing chances – do you really think his mother christened him Marc or is is a stage ‘c’??? He looks like a younger Mel Gibson which for Maman Poulet is not a good thing. He also is off key within seconds…jesus…Song ends abruptly but not soon enough! Oh I want to see what happened in rehearsals now after what Louis and Marija said. Album track says Dana – oh you are too kind….

19.50 THE LINES ARE NOW OPEN - Someone find me a lovely butch lesbian (yeah Marija will more than do!) to fan me down in my excitement… :)

Stand by for the hordes voting for the bird…followed by Donal Skehan who was song number 1 – very eurovisiony really. No Louis (e) Ray did not call Marija a man. Oh she’s going to sing…YAY…

Ok Marija needs a tailor…and some backing singers or a band but RTE did all this on the cheap… Cue young wans coming out all over the country by pointing out to their mammies that that is a woman.

Right so I’m off for my dinner and I’ll be back at 9.45 for the results. Can you stand the wait?

Update. - Squid is also liveblogging this live from Limerick (love the developing story banner – very TMZ! Also taking to the blog tonight is Best of Both Worlds.

Hello Newstalk staff

Hi Brenda or members of Your Call Team. Nowt else to be doing with your day except vanity google?

mail.newstalk.ie – - [22/Feb/2008:13:30:29 +0000] “GET /?p=326 HTTP/1.1″ 200 35526 “http://www.google.ie/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3A
official&channel=s&hl=en&q=newstalk+your+call&meta=&btnG=Google+Search”

I do wonder what the real story in Newstalk head offices is – is there anyone really worried about what the recent tabloid turn in out put is doing to the the station? The Tribunal Coverage is actually not bad – shame about the rest! But maybe my readers from Newstalk offices would care to leave an anonymous comment and tell all!

Newstalk getting the brushoff

Posted by Maman Poulet on 22 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: Irish Media, Irish Politics

I’m delighted…

Brenda Power is not Joe Duffy – she thinks she is or is better than Joe…and as bad as some might think Duffy is he wouldn’t stoop to bullying civil servants and others live on air without prior knowledge that they would be on air.

Her 10 o’clock ‘ring a civil servant live on air’ on behalf of a member of the public drives me fecking bonkers. And the last few days of HSE continuum have not got anyone anywhere. The Health Famine stuff on Wednesday – all day Wednesday – was soporific. Investigative journalism died somewhere on the way to Newstalks’s offices. But I suppose I should not be surprised. I’m sad that the station I listen to most is the one I now turn off the most.0+2=1 agrees.

From today’s Irish Times.

Ministers shun Newstalk over on-air calls

Government Ministers are refusing to be interviewed on Newstalk 106 and the Health Service Executive has pulled its advertising, following the station’s refusal to stop calling the offices of Ministers and civil servants live on air. Mark Hennessy , Political Correspondent, reports.

Civil servants at the receiving end of calls from Brenda Power’s Your Call show have complained they feel “intimidated and bullied” when faced with on-air demands to be put through to Ministers, or senior managers.

In the last few days, the Minister for Defence, Willie O’Dea; the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Brian Lenihan; the Minister for Education, Mary Hanafin; and the Minister for Social Affairs, Martin Cullen, have all refused to contribute to Newstalk’s programmes.

Last night, the Green Party said the party’s Ministers “had decided to co-operate with our colleagues in Government in relation to Newstalk” because of its unhappiness with “the way that ordinary civil servants are being treated”.

A number of HSE staff who have had to field calls from the programme have lodged formal complaints with the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland.

Although the Government press secretary denied a blanket ban had been imposed, the station’s editor, Garrett Harte, said Ministers’ press officers had told the station that “the refusal is as a result of Your Call”. He said: “We make no apology for campaigning on behalf of the general public who are not receiving the basic healthcare they deserve.”

The Government press secretary, Eoghan Ó Neachtain, met the station’s chief executive, Elaine Geraghty, but the station then insisted that it would continue with the calls.

In its complaint to Newstalk, the HSE said: “The lack of respect for the privacy of ordinary, individual staff members who are placed live on air without their prior knowledge or consent means that we can no longer have confidence that your organisation will treat our contributors or responses with impartiality or fairness.”

The HSE said that until the live, on-air calls to HSE staff ceased, “we will no longer be supplying press releases, processing queries or interview requests, or using your station for advertising”.
