You can read more about the Amsterdam case in Friday 13th's examiner [if you can post the link MP], it is more direct and states what the case entailed - quite stunning.

However, it is the way it was brushed under the carpet, as Ned put it, that concerns me. In the aftermath of the Brendan Smyth affair in Ireland, I'm appalled by how lax the system is and how inappropriate behaviours are (still) tolerated. As someone who has researched family life in Ireland, i am worried if victims of abuse or vulnerable families might trust social work interviewers/ researchers less in future. Bad day for those of us who want brush under carpets.

Like Marie, I heard the Drivetime report and it's mind boggling that the episode in Amsterdam was seemingly brushed under the carpet until recently. I wonder who blew the whistle on Dr Jenkyl McElwee. I googled his name and if his antics in Holland hadn't been known, one would almost award him a sainthood for all the 'work' he has done in the 'interest' of children and young people. What a mud-minded scumbag he is.

I knew that Mc Elwee was In Amsterdam in his capacity as Head of the child and youth centre, but just heard on RTE Drivetime now about the Garda on the trip who then informed the Health Board on his return as Mc Elwee's behaviour. Ever get the feeling there's an awful lot more to come out about this?
