Domestic abuse in relationships between women

January 12th, 2012 · 8 Comments · LGBT, Same Sex Partnerships, Social Policy

If you watch one thing this week? More on this fabulous European campaign and the organisations behind it. But no all lesbians want [...]

December 2nd, 2011 · 9 Comments · LGBT, Marriage Equality, Same Sex Partnerships

Two women raise a young man who can speak well in public in Iowa last February, it goes viral again for some reason this week and lesbians and gay men and their friends go nuts about it.  It’s been all over my facebook and twitter with pre requisite gushing.  It’s not the video itself that [...]

The culture of entitlement and #Aras11

September 24th, 2011 · 31 Comments · Irish Politics, LGBT, Trot for the ARAS 2011

Some of the ‘clamour’ to get David Norris nominated has been nasty but I was going to ignore it whilst marvelling at the fact he was running again, getting nominations signed despite the letter, the terribly worded explanations and the poorly run campaign. While Norris himself was working behind the scenes this week seeking nominations [...]

All eyes turn to the NorthWest for the annual pride celebrations which commence next week.    A packed programme of events in Leitrim and Sligo are planned.    The parade takes place on Saturday through Sligo’s town centre and from past experience (I’ve been to five!)  is the nicest dander with lovely receptive crowds lining the street [...]

Honesty, character and the Park

July 30th, 2011 · 24 Comments · Elections, Irish Politics, LGBT

Blogging on the iPad being away from home is very difficult so no matter how much I want to comment on what is happening to the Norris for President campaign I’m restricted really to twitter and mulling it over in my head. The spelling will be iffy. Whomever I vote for in the Presidential election [...]

The Council of Europe’s Commissioner on Human Rights, Thomas Hammarberg is outspoken [...]

The Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn has been making his inaugural speeches to the Teachers Union conferences this week.  Yesterday he spoke at the TUI conference and raised the issue of lesbian and gay teachers and the possible impact of equality legislation protections regarding religious ethos.
