Glancing at the oireachtas.ie site's schedule, I note "No Bills" are scheduled for the week of 30 November or 7 December.... tick tock Minister!

Wonder if it will be rushed through with the Social Welfare Bill in the dead of night?

Tick tock, tick tock...

Marie x2!!! Public safety issues are crucial for me, so I'm a bit astonished that it is elided in the NGLF report. I won't die if I don't marry, but I might if we have another homophobic attack on us.

so while the NGLF report (congrats authors!) is *very* interesting (love the qualitative aspects of the report) it left me wanting MORE. I do hope there's more data than this summary report that can be mined effectively. IMO stats don't capture this richness and complexity so well - if you want to inspire people, tell people's stories... so I want to hear more voices of real people not percentages this or that.

On the politics of (formal) recognition, it is understandable that the NGLF is promoting 'gay marriage' over 'civil partnership' - but the impending legislation is the only game in town at the moment. Be pragmatic and just get us out of this fecky little antechamber and set us free to sort out of lives in a formal way. I'm not so Beyonce to care whether I need a ring on it! The "I wanna be a housewife" t-shirt will do fine.

But yayyyy let's go in December!

I'm so very, very tired of LGB activists talking out of both sides of their mouth at once and mutilating research to get it to say what they want by ignoring the serious concerns that LGB people have expressed to do with the basics of simple survival.
