Left a comment on Quinn's site politely disagreeing with him. No sign of it being published. Is he really such an intellectual chicken that he only publishes comments that agree with him?

Sean,

Terrible ad but with the right intentions I think - numbers for VSO are, according to an article I read last week, through the floor.

You can only post comments on David Quinns blog by registering. If you register, he will moderate your comment. Naturally, no comments will therefore be published.

So does the Irish Catholic newspaper consider this to be acceptable? I mean, a blog without comments is, eh, a column?

Jeez, I wanted check into a clinic for therapy after watching this woeful advert... a close second to the 'I want to do a pooh at Paul's' advert. LOL.

I did not immediately pick up that it was primary teachers they were looking for in the ad, but I did notice how it is an effort to reduce public service numbers for a two-year period with the 'promise' of a job or possible promotion upon return. I don't think there's much in the way of promotion in teaching. On the scheme, I think flight and accomodation, etc., were always included in the package, so I think this is just spin. And a local salary isn't anything to get excited about either. Just why, in the current climate, would you give up security? The country could be sold off to the Chinese by the time ya get back. Very glib approach, what is it hiding?
