Not arrested. He went to the station voluntarily. Apparently he handed over several paintings of other public figures to Gardaí. My guess is he made a cautioned statement. A file is being sent to the DPPs offide, where they'll probably bust a hole laughing at the vanity of the great and good.

The rampant abuse of state power. Proof positive that BC isn't fit for purpose. The citizen's right to go about lawful business free from police harassment.

Let's notice how some cretins spin this... I bet there'll be one who'll say that the government press office was only expressing their legitimate right to comment.

That it was the weak ones in RTE that chose to apologise.

Mr Cowen didn't require any apology. He wasn't insulted. He laughed it off. [The real Brian might even try to outbid Pat Kenny for the paintings in auction.] It was the office of the Taoiseach that was brought into disrepute.

Not only did RTE insult that office and damage Ireland in the eyes of the world, but it proved itself unable to defend freedom of speech.

Now if it was up to Mr Cowen he'd reform RTE into a fourth estate champion we could all be proud of. In fact the FF manifesto for the next election will put this right.

Good old FF for spotting this weakness at the heart of Irish society. Vote FF - true defenders of Irish free speech.
