Freshers weeks all over the country are taking place and the student political groups are busy recruiting.
Will anyone beat YFG in UCC for crimes against the West Wing?

Do all new members get rubbed by a busty bimbo or is it just a perk of being the boss? Is that why Lucinda left the front bench and Olwyn is quitting altogether?
There is a woman, she is a bimbo.
Nice to see insightful commentary here.
I think Mike was pointing out how the woman was portrayed in the video and showing how reflective it is of the status of women in Fine Gael. They didn’t pick it up of the ground.
In fairness to them, that’s brilliant. Even if the touch up at the end is a little weird. But the promo scenes are great. I’d nearly join myself. Except I’m not in Cork. And er..
Aaron Sorkin must be spinning in his trip.
I wouldn’t mind if they’d tried to write a mock script plugging the society rather than just doing an elongated walk-and-talk, but the fact that they just did the theme tune THREE TIMES and decide to plug the society by means of socialising? Erk.
If they’re going to try and plug the party as a social outlet they should have said “The country’s shagged; if you join, you’ll be too.” Otherwise, say “the country’s shagged; join the party and be involved in sorting it out.” The falling between two stools is annoying on so many levels it’s indescribable.
Ten quid that the Chair(man) runs for the locals in 2014. And loses.
Cringe! ot: does anyone hear “come home to Birdseye country” when they hear that theme tune?
Well, for the sake of balance, it does say under the video: ” Please note that this video is not meant to be 100% serious. It provides a comical, different and entertaining view of life in political societies.
All actions and statements in this video should be taken with a grain of salt.
Join UCC YFG online at http://www.ucc.ie/yfg.”
Just to be fair to the blueshirts.
Fine Gael are welcome to anybody convinced to join after watching that cringe worthy bull sh*t…Rubbish
You guys are surely badly off to actually be ripping the piss out of a college society recruitment video. You really have nothing better to be doing than reading into what a bunch of 19 year olds in Cork have done for a bit of craic.
That’s just totally S A D
It looks like something different is being attempted. Something innovative. With politics and the economy the way it is they could do nothing and still attract members. In my opinion the youngsters deserve a bit of credit no matter what you think of the video.
@Gav
Have you considered a career in advertising?
I think “The country’s shagged. If you join, you’ll be too” is quite possibly the best recruiting slogan never to make it onto a poster.
College politics and real politics are totally different. The fact that they actually made a video is very impressive. The girl at the end, is clearly meant to be tongue on cheek. There is also the disclaimer which basically highlights that they are having a laugh and trying something new. Seriously people, live a little.
Why will the “chairman” lose???
