It is time that we have a real law reform in this country (and not just a government department carrying the word). As long as we keep copying the British legal system down to the smallest detail, there will never be fairness, justice or transparency in Ireland. There are better and more effective legal systems in the world (especially in Europe) and it would not be a great effort to adopt a European legal structure. All it needs is the will, and a government to see it through. The cozy way in which the legal profession still regulates itself is another remnant of British rule that needs to be changed. But my observation is that most Irish people don't care for anything and could not be bothered to stand up for any political matter. In this regard we have lapsed back into a pre-1916 mentality. As long as people can get drunk every weekend, they don't give a hoot for anything. The heroes of the GPO must be spinning in their graves all the time...
