Libertas seems to try and win voters by presenting itself as a centre-right, acceptable way of being anti-Lisbon/anti-EU. Maybe the shift to the right is a panicked attempted to attract more right wing MPs and MEPs who may have been put off by Libertas’ comparatively moderate tone? Right wingers seem to be the only ones Libertas has any hope of attracting.

I’m not at all surprised that Lucinda Creighton is in the mixup – she has been prominently interviewed in the Irish Catholic about how civil partnerships should not be equal to gay marriage
