Tubridy knew he couldn’t have done a worse job than Kenny’s stand-in the night before. I don’t know how I ended up watching Gerry Ryan slithering his way around Studio 1 and at one point practically humping a very uncomfortable looking Gary Lightbody’s leg, but I wish I hadn’t.

I’ll say this on Tubridy’s behalf: he may occasionally reach a bit far when he’s trying to be oh-so-witty but at least he knows how to keep a live show going (unlike Ryan) and make it look easy (unlike Kenny).

RTE’s coverage of the whole US election campaign has been an exercise in patronising from beginning to end. The lack of analysis and depth in their reports would make you think that we have no previous relationship with the place.
