how do they insert the blogs the candidates have into the system, i know how you can, but how will they?

not having comments on the blog is fatal flaw.

every candidate will get basic info which is fair enough.

im a blogger/podcaster and i’m a politixian

I have had the miC taken out of me! the miC team had me fill in the google docs form, and when i sent my photo I asked how will i update this info, i got no reply.

next (days later) I got a call from miC to see if i had got an email from them and did i fill it in (they should have seen it in the spreadsheet), oh i did i said, and i sent my photo with the correct dimensions, and i asked a question and got no reply. I quizzed & quizzed the CMS features of miC and learned about the pro version and its costs. I agreed that it would be ok for a sales person to call me and tell me more. I did get the answers to the CMS question on the basic system, THERE IS NONE, contact miC and they will update any policy details that need updating, or I can delete my listing.

Minutes later sales called and explained all about pro, they sent me an email with lots of attachments and booked in to recall me the next day. They never called.

The pro tool is useless to me as i have all the online tools i need (as as you say, then some, its a local election, doors need knocking, brick not clicks, the clew is in the “local” bit). Is pro for anyone else? yes a party could do well to have it, but not if another party have it. catch 22. the syndication of the data is over sold. Is it in XML/RSS, will google find it once? OK then forget SKY RTE Irish Times. but is it RSS rolled?

The costs. The pay back for miC is in on going fees. The work is done on the system and setup takes 2 seconds? so as it scales why charge a “setup” fee? It is a ‘charge to use’ fee and not setup! roll the cost of that development into the ongoing charge. It is starting to sound like Sky+ installation and the world TV pack is on sale here. The on going charge, €35 is a tad steep, but if I get 100% of all donations not 96% etc, then there is value add here. I do get 100% ?? unlike PayPal. Wow. Really?.

The best thing that could happen would be that only a select few candidates use this very well, therefore there is an exclusivity which Obama had over the GOP and his Democratic competitors. Then a success story will adorn miC. Its failure will be its success. Long live the F�?ILure.

Votewise.co.uk has been doing roughly the same thing since 2007 for free, it’ll be interesting to what the take up is for a commercial product …
