Twenty Junior Ministers too many!

Seán Power is the latest junior minister (with responsibility for Natural Resources and Information Society) to offer himself up for the sake of the nation.  Yesterday it was was bumbling national treasure Martin Mansergh(only a national treasure for his bumbling, flustered, screeching ‘Tonight with Vincent Browne’ appearances). Interestingly Sean Power used the word ’empire’ to refer to his office including staff and drivers on Morning Ireland this morning. So very apt really all this sword falling, empire destroying while Mr. Cowen is in Japan.

Ok who’s next? Conor Lenihan!? Minister for Integration without a budget? Surely he can go too? Or is he one of the juniors very upset at the very thought of their empire being toppled.

While the Taoiseach is away we seem to be bombarded with info on having 20 junior ministers (for some reason I thought it was ‘only’ 17) and 46 Oireachtas committees and only 2 backbenchers without a second job (aka extra salary top up).  In fact let’s find out who the two poor jobless souls are and express our sympathies or offer some sake!

Update: Would you look who else has offered to go before he’ll be pushed – Conor Lenihan – and Tony Killeen just said he’d go too in an interview with Lunchtime on Newstalk.  Far far too easy now. Fish in barrel come to mind!
