Doing Deals and picking candidates

December 11th, 2008 · No Comments · Lisbon

Today I’m off in search of an Ulster Fry as the bacon goes back on the shelves in the rest of the island.

I’ve been busy working and watching the farce that really was a pig in a poke. Lots of jobs lost, food spoiled and menus ruined for what? Europe to say it as ok? The pork fiasco post mortem is only beginning.

Meanwhile Declan Ganley is opening his Brussels office today. Rumours abound that Caroline Simons is going to run for Libertas in the Dublin constituency in next years European Parliament elections. Our cup may runneth over in terms of female election candidates. Brunette Election candidates in particular, Deirdre de Burca, Mary Lou McDonald (yes she’s actually an MEP not that you’d notice) and probably Caroline.

Keep an eye to Mark Mardell today for his thoughts on Cowen doing deals ‘seeking legal guarantees’ aka making it up as they go along in Brussels at the EU summit. I’ll be back with thoughts as the clarity emerges (or not) later.
