Poor Poor Peter Robinson
You’ve met Slanket Enda?
The Iona Institute’s David Quinn is now blogging for the Irish Catholic. He is opposing the campaign to rename Archbishop Ryan Park in Merrion Square as Oscar Wilde Park. He even wants the statue of Oscar removed! If you like me favour the renaming you’ll find more information here.
Last chance to see Ireland’s Biggest Hits - it goes off the RTE Player on Friday. (Yes I know …the Daily Mail)
Senator Fidelma Healy Eames thinks about finding guys for her single female friends.
Nominations for the Irish Blog Awards 2010 are open
Surely the most ridiculous product launch of late – ”My Pink Button’ – a dye for down there.
Paschal Sheehy’s Hat - the must have accessory for RTE reporters this winter is a hat.
Voluntary Service Overseas need primary teachers. They’ve decided this ad might get them a few new recruits. You think?
Jeez, I wanted check into a clinic for therapy after watching this woeful advert… a close second to the ‘I want to do a pooh at Paul’s’ advert. LOL.
I did not immediately pick up that it was primary teachers they were looking for in the ad, but I did notice how it is an effort to reduce public service numbers for a two-year period with the ‘promise’ of a job or possible promotion upon return. I don’t think there’s much in the way of promotion in teaching. On the scheme, I think flight and accomodation, etc., were always included in the package, so I think this is just spin. And a local salary isn’t anything to get excited about either. Just why, in the current climate, would you give up security? The country could be sold off to the Chinese by the time ya get back. Very glib approach, what is it hiding?
You can only post comments on David Quinns blog by registering. If you register, he will moderate your comment. Naturally, no comments will therefore be published.
So does the Irish Catholic newspaper consider this to be acceptable? I mean, a blog without comments is, eh, a column?
Sean,
Terrible ad but with the right intentions I think – numbers for VSO are, according to an article I read last week, through the floor.
Left a comment on Quinn’s site politely disagreeing with him. No sign of it being published. Is he really such an intellectual chicken that he only publishes comments that agree with him?
