Maman Poulet’s ears were burning today…

What is the connection between Brian Cowen and Rody Malloy, Director-General of FĂ?S??

“I know him and he has been an excellent public servant down through the years,” he said. “I have every confidence in him.”

Is it Offaly? Rody is from Birr… Maybe it was a school connection?

Or is it a matter of being related by marriage? Brian’s wife Mary’s maiden name is Molloy…

Update - still no news on this and in fact there have been official denials so that’s that – it seems lots of other people were thinking it from the searches leading here!

Does it matter now, as he’s just quit? Actually it does… he spent almost €500K on junkets to the USA!

It is very interesting to compare this post with your final comment in the post below it

You’re on about “old media” and how they should declare that they were on a jolly funded by the EU and all of that. Totally commendable

Yet what you are alleging here – a family relationship beween Ahern and Molloy – would NEVER be published by any old media because (a) it is obviously untrue (see quotes in the Irish Indo yesterday) and (b) they would have rang the Taoiseach’s office or his constituency office for a quote to clarify.

Much as I love the new breed of bloggers, a little balance and fact-checking might be worth putting on the Xmas want list to Santa

Sean you mean Cowen and Molloy I presume…

Fact checking I completely agree with and I spend a considerable amount of time doing so on many of the posts here – I only asked the questions in a post and it was perfectly legal to post what I did.

Balance? You think the old media is balanced? Why should I be??

If you read elsewhere in the blogosphere you might note some are pointing to a reluctance in old media to cover this story given knowledge for years of abuses etc because some in the old media were on the take or involed in some other manner.
