Speaking in the Dáil last night on the banking inquiry and why it should be public and conducted by the Oireachtas – I know I’ve called him a national treasure before but his speeches and their content and delivery are just stunning. There are challenges to all on their understanding and desire for true Parliamentary processes.
PS: It seems Michael D now has a fan page on Facebook.

Bravo. But how many people with hear him and how many less will listen?
Ah the old dog has a bit of kick in him yet. I was in the car listening to this earlier, he really does have fantastic delivery compared to the rest in Leinster House. He’s right on politicians shifting the blame…how many reports and studys and commissions have we had with countless recomendations that rarely if ever get taken on by our elected officials. It’s beyond a joke at this stage
He’s so on the ball about the HSE (the liquidator of the Irish health service).
Outstanding.
Clearly I’m biased, but empowering democratic bodies is a theme that Michael D. returns to regularly. And he does so with integrity and emotion, which should be required for such topics.
Not sure I see him as an old dog, but he certainly still has kick
Has anyone ever been as right about anything Michael D is about this? FF has gone to great lengths to distance itself from the policy-making processes of this country, and look where it got us. Of course it’s not all their fault, we let them get away with it. Still, if we let them get away with this then we’ll truly deserve to be screwed by FF and the banks.
Michael D is my one my absolute heroes – anyway on Sunday on RTE radio 1 miriam interviews Michael D and his wife Sabina who in her own right is an outstanding orator
I do believe there is to be poetry on the programme Ian – heard a trailer tonight
