Roll up Roll up – MiCandidate.eu Pro going cheap
Posted by Maman Poulet on 02 May 2009 at 01:07 pm | Tagged as: Elections, Irish Politics
Phonecalls are being made this week to local election candidates offering a huge reduction in the sign up fee to MiCandidate.eu (the Obama tools ‘PRO’ part) – remember it was going for €250 euro plus €35 a month – well now it’s being touted around for €99.
If I were a candidate who paid €250 sign up fee I’d be a little bit annoyed – but sure how many of them are there?
And the persistent nature of the sales calls continue! But there is a bit of a further problem with them – MiCandidate.eu staffers are making a lot of calls during canvass time – doh! There is an election on don’t you know?

PS. First campaign blog round up of the candidates who have their own blogs (for free remember!) and other blogger election stories coming up next week. Stay tuned!

Hi Suzie I hadn’t noticed these blog entries on miCandidate before but I certainly received plenty of phone calls from them. It seemed a lot of cash for what I was already doing in abundance for free but the only benefit was the syndication idea (and of course the fear factor that all my opponents would be on it and I wouldn’t – of course none of them were as it turns out). Anyway I declined politely and then more forcefully until one day out of the blue I got a final call with a seriously knock down offer. I forget the specifics but it was a lot less than even the discounted fee mentioned in your post. It was too good to refuse! Have to say it wasn’t all bad, I put up a few articles and pics and I know it was linked from some local papers. One guy I canvassed even told me I had the best miCandidate profile within my electoral area! He’d been checking out the candidates online and found the site. A big downside was there was no linkup for people already blogging like me I would have liked a direct syndication system. Was OK for half nothing but would never have paid the exorbitant fees they were initially seeking. PS I hope I got mentioned in your candidate/web roundup! James
Hi James, you definitely got mentioned in the roundups on Irishelection – references to tweets and all!!
