Maman Poulet | Clucking away crookedly through media, politics and life

They are indeed the UK’s greatest disabled punk band

Released this week on DVD and arrived in the mail today – Heavy Load.

I saw a shortened version of the documentary on BBC 4 a few months ago and it’s no ordinary documentary about disability. I love the story behind getting permission to play Kylie’s ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’. But even more I’m a big fan of the Stay Up Late campaign – which is about making sure people with disabilities don’t have to go home from concerts and other events at 9pm because their staff have to finish their shifts. That’s if they even get to the concert in the first place!

Heavy Load are due to play this year at Glastonbury.
The DVD is available on Amazon and other places and you can find out more about the band and their campaigns here.
