Tidings of goodwill …ummm

Earlier this week Lord Mayor Cllr.  Gerry Breen (FG) took the opportunity of one of the coldest days of the year to speak out against beggars in the city of Dublin. The remarks were quite  outrageous and based about his social life in Dublin 2.  He repeated them on RTE news later that day and they were made last month also but to little notice so the Lord Mayor decided to give it a second go while people couldn’t move about the streets of his city, were trapped in their houses or had no roof over their heads or were facing water shortages.

Cllr. Breen was recently selected to run in Dublin North West for Fine Gael in the General Election moving from his base in Clontarf.  Longstanding and some might say equally notorious fellow candidate Cllr. Dr. Bill Tormey was less than amused at Breen’s addition to the ticket.

Tormey has been blogging all day today Christmas Day, he must be snowed in like the rest of us.

He’s not amused with the Lord Mayor’s comments.  In one of Christmas Day’s ELEVEN (so far) blog posts, Dr. Tormey disagrees with his colleague regarding begging and ends the post thus with a run through of his opponents:

I regret having to re-enter this issue but Gerry Breen keeps up this tidal wave of biased ignorant rhetoric and sticks his fingers in my eyes. I am not politically sophisticated enough just to keep quiet.

Just to let the electorate of Dublin Northwest know – there is one competent, straight and informed candidate in that constituency. — Bill Tormey.

Go through the record – the two Fianna Fail TDs have supported the economic catastrophe that his landed on the Irish people 70% from within. Deputy Shortall – try TV3 and Vincent Browne on the economy. Dessie – good councillor but running the country…… John Lyons replaced a competent Andrew Montague a man with a real record of some achievement. Gerry Breen – check the 20 year record on line of you wish.

You get more for your vote with Bill Tormey

Things will be very tight in Dublin North West and this campaign looks like be the most hilarious and indeed most bloody.
