Young, Irish Wealthy and now bust

Ah it is the silly season and RTE1 decided tonight to repeat a special on the Young Irish and Wealthy originally shown last Christmas.
What a difference 8 months makes.
Several of the projects and inflated bank accounts of the people profiled are no longer with us.
Moviestar.ie is a mere Web Awards sponsor memory from last year having being taken over by (handed over to?) Screenclick a short 7 days after the original broadcast. Bubble Hits is also in that great memorial garden dedicated to once great ideas.
And then there were the builders childer! Forgive me for laughing…
“As people have less money, disposable money,to spend and going out a lot less, maybe taking one or two less holidays a year”
One or two less? Come on. Not surprised they’ve gone out of business with that attitude
Hubris by the shedload and perhaps one of the greatest wastes of licence money ever.
RTE filmed this programme over a year ago – and its defiantly been a tough year for a lot of people who run their own businesses. However credit must be given to anyone who puts in risk and effort to start their on business, and I don’t think there is anything ‘laughable’ about the misfortune of any entrepreneur.
Moviestar.ie was a project that we spent 3 years working on, a huge personal capital investment on our part and we were delighted to be able to sponsor the Irish Web Awards. The Moviestar site itself was award winning and had many thousands of happy customers.
Selling Moviestar allowed us to concentrate 100% on Global Billing, our mobile payments company, which I am delighted to say, even in tough times, is profitable and growing month by month. (www.global-billing.com)
