Dermod Moore’s short film ‘My First Kiss’ is now up on Youtube
It cheered me up no end – Great stuff! Click through and rate it if you like it too. I assume a documentary maker has been born!
There are other shorts as part of the DublinPride Film Shorts viewable here – I’ll get through them in the next few days and let you know if any stir me.)
Wonderful! That was so cool and so evocative; you’re a frigging genius Dermod!
The sociologist in me felt that Oscar seemed to enjoy the spectacle by the smirk on his face. It made me think how times have changed. While many famous homosexuals have only had a ‘gay afterlife’ that is made in part by our emotional attachment to their inspirational lives and struggles, I would like to think the boys who lie together in St Fintan’s would be proud too of just how confident the first post-generation has become. The universal tales about the first kiss perfectly capture our ongoing dilemmas in liquid modernity about who we want to be and how we want to live in a society that doesn’t (yet) quite get us or treat us properly as citizens.
Love it.
