One year on

It’s a year since the Heads of Bill were published on Civil Partnership. I noted the Sunday Business Post’s story this week saying the publication of the bill is imminent. While the mothership is not parked outside Stephens’s Green awaiting smoke from the Ministers office I’ll be keeping an eye out.
I was wondering if Dermot Ahern would get all sentimental and publish it during Pride Week. He probably does not really fear a few thousand irate queers dancing on his image in rage. The Green Party however might be a bit more worried.
Watch this space!
(PS. Chorus NTL have seemingly given me weak/no broadband in their installation during the recent move. Bet some people are more than happy about that!)

Indeed, as you mark the anniversary, the story of the production of the Civil Partnership Bill bears striking resemblence to Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, an endless narrative, with evil flying hiberian and columbanus monkeys and Dorothy in the middle beating the crap out of a witch or two… oh. wrong. book. It’s been a long day gardening in the sun… Maybe Dermod Moore (aka Gregg O’Rakky) might like to make “Civil Partnership – the movie”? This would hardly be a movie short, as given how long this is taking, he could make it as birth of a gay nation in the style of DW Griffth!!
Oh on broadband “special offers on special offer”, the Eircom broadband brochure that I picked up yesterday touted that if you sign up (for one package or other), you can get the bonus of free access to Setanta Sports… by civil partnership is a much more interesting spectator sport!!
