I heard Fionnan Sheahan commenting twice yesterday (On Today with Pat Kenny and Tonight with Vincent Browne) on an interview that Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny gave last Thursday to Sean O’Rourke on RTE’s News At One.
Fionnan said that Enda had a press officer whispering answers to him during the interview in the Dáil Studio. Enda took the prompt and immediately included it in his answers. I’m not sure if this interview and the whispers were widely known about and as I’ve been watching football and working for the past few days I went back to have a listen. (Pat Leahy had the scoop in Sunday’s Business Post). The audio is included below.
The interview begins at 2’57” and the whisper can be heard from 8’34” onwards. I won’t ruin the surprise for you with the actual words.
By the time you read this Enda could be toast but sure it’s interesting to hear all the same.
