Maman Poulet | Clucking away crookedly through media, politics and life

Good Luck

May 6th, 2009 · 6 Comments · Blogging, Elections, Irish Politics

Before getting really stuck in with regards to candidates, campaigns, issues and the like I do want to wish the best to anyone who decides to run in the forthcoming elections and those who support them.  I may not support your causes (a list of those who’ve caught my eye is being made) but I’m glad I live in Ireland, where the voting machines are being recycled, the posters are going up poles or not throughout the country and the canvasses are well underway.

I wish the candidates good weather and safety – a point brought to my notice from FG’s Senator Paschal Donohue’s tweet about being knocked down by a car today – he looked grand on Tonight with Vincent Browne this evening I’m pleased to report.

30 days to go…

I was admiring the posters on the way into work this morning and noticed (because I’m a designer probably) something odd about the election poster logos – Fianna Fail’s logo is tiny and hard to make out, especially in comparison to Fine Gael.

Stewart: yea, amazing that. I mean you’d think they didn’t want the voters to know…..wait a minute!

Thanks for the wishes! I got clobbered by 5 sheets of flying corrie board at 11pm last night, didnt notice blood until 2am. this is my 10th (or so) election not counting the Labour stuff in the Cluskey era (for me Da). I wan’t everyone to see their next election too, so be careful in those high winds high ladders and be most of all be careful with those high hopes. My 2nd last tweet follows and there is a lesson in it for all.

I met Patricia McKenna in the subway of Bayside DART station on the eve of polling Euro1994. she was rank outsider. she topped the poll !!!

Thanks for the best wishes – Probably won’t get much time here in the next month or so but I might pop in now and again

Great point from Brian there; was out last night with the ‘sails’ (that’s what posters are when in your hand!) and – well – it felt dangerous. Especially when were doing the entrance/exit ramps from the M1… very exposed.
