John ‘Foot in Mouth’ Inverdale Strikes again…

February 24th, 2007 · 1 Comment · Sport

17.26 John Inverdale apologises to BBC viewers on the ‘Mainland’ for overuse of term historic

This is after a video package attempting to explain why England playing at Croker is so historic, complete with newspaper clippings and son’s of players who played in that match 87 years ago.

So John when will you be apologising to Irish viewers for the use of the term ‘Mainland’. All that being nice and making sure everyone knows why it’s a bit sensitive and you go put your foot in it again.

Anyway the anthems  passed off peacefully – although I’m sure I saw some tears on Irish players faces during Amhran na Bhfiann…

It’s quiet outside finally for a while – well the next 80 minutes plus halftime…

John Inverdale on his ‘Today at Wimbledon’ on 22nd June 2009 – making an offensive comment about the Chinese player Yen Hsun Lu. This Chinese player had just lost to Roger Federer – and John Inverdale said – “No chinks on Federer’s armour there then”.

My family and I are Chinese. We know – as Inverdale must do, that the word “Chink” is used as a derogatory term in the west by bigots. On the surface, Inverdale had used a well known term of expression – but considering that he was also referring to a Chinese player, one wonders why he had to use the Chink word. Inverdale comes across as being too snide and too slick. He got away with what was a racist comment but because he couched it under an English expression, he obviously believes that he can take the mickey. He does not respect others. Can’t stand the obnoxious man. We think he is contemptible.

On behalf of Yen Hsun Lu and a race of people.

    Lee Family.
