Marriage needs to be protected…

..You can’t get married in a tent but now other places that are accessible, open the public and have a fire safety certificate are ok. Ah yeah special thing this marriage lark. Have to keep the gays away from it.
Yeah more like that marriage needs to be protected from those cheese-eating surrender monkeys in the Green Party. They should really learn to defend the indefensible properly, like Jim ‘I love my leader’Tunney. Jeez, are we getting back to the GUBU era? I’m getting a bit nostalgic now, MP!
I do dream that someday a coalition government will be like a beautifully executed dance, with perfect timing and no stepping on one another’s toes and making bold radical moves… like this…

And if that’s anything to go by, it will be at leat 3 years before they put anything in place for homosexual couples.
That law was enacted back in 2004, the year I got engaged. Because of the uselessness of the Registrar’s Office, my plan of getting married in a hotel couldn’t happen (3 years later and they still hadn’t put the procedures in place to be able to apply the law). With 6 months to go before the wedding I had to change all my plans and basically lie to get us married in a registry office…
I wouldn’t be holding your breath for anything soon…
Barry McCrea and I have separately taking Roderic MP on his blog, and like a good gardener, he just keeps digging and it does say something wider about that party’s view of the world: it is utterly modernist. Politics is sooo interesting again.
