Are we going back to Government broadcasting policy of the 1980’s? Brian Lenihan rings the RTE Boss to complain sorry have a cordial conversation about the contents of Liveline last week.

If you missed it, callers were ringing Joe and talking about moving their money to under the mattress or the post office or a hole in the back garden. Joe Duffy was not doing the job of the Minister of Finance and reassuring these callers. No in fact Joe was being a broadcaster – I’m not saying a good one or a bad one. But surely it’s not his job to be telling people not to take out their money? He did define a banking crisis though as callers saw it. Meanwhile big eyed Brian was taking cover somewhere doing his scared rabbit impressions!

You can listen to it here for the next 72 hours. It was last Thursday’s show. I’ll also get the segment uploaded somewhere for posterity. You can also now listen by using the widget below. It’ll make a good phd topic for someone surely!

After the show (but of course nothing to do with the show!) the Minister moved to protect the first €100,000 of voters deposits.
